This is the best looking P2 child theme I’ve ever met.

But added a few function may be better:
      1. The new status post to be pending, users and admin can see it in frontend, manager or reach 2 users through the audit.
      2. Restrict users every day or one hour post number.

      Some not important:
      3. The subscriber does not allow the use front postform, and prompt.
      4. It can also support the selection category, although the other plugin can do.
      5. In other languages, support multiple tags with spaces separating.

      Thanks

Is this going to make it to wordpress.com? Sure would love to have it available there ….

      • mercury 7:06 pm on June 12, 2014 Permalink | Reply

I’m not familiar with the process of having it available on a WordPress.com hosted site. I’ll have to look into it.

          Thanks for the reply.

I’d use it on my personal site, but I’m using muut.com forum/commenting system. Two issues: a large space is taken up on the main page with the comment inserted; two, in posts, both muut and WP comment boxes are shown. Muut removes the latter, so something in the theme has let it back in. Not your problem, I know.

          • mercury 3:45 pm on June 15, 2014 Permalink | Reply

Yeah, not really sure how to fix that. Mercury doesn’t change hardly any of the php from P2, so it’s likely an issue there.

            • JasRandal 5:11 pm on June 15, 2014 Permalink | Reply

Gotcha. I hadn’t tried P2 on my blog since installing muut, so wouldn’t have noticed that. But Mercury is so cool looking, plus responsive, just gotta use it somewhere. 🙂

Hey there! Paul Hughes here, lead developer on the Muut plugin. Saw this thread and wanted to check into the issue; we definitely want to make sure Muut is good to go out of the box as much as possible—especially with progressive (i.e. responsive) themes like this one.

I tried replicating the issue, and off the bat, I’m actually not able to. I’m seeing Muut properly replace the default commenting box rather than showing additionally. Wanted to check if this was still an issue so I can see what we can do on the Muut end.

              Let me know! 🙂

Ah, I also forgot to mention: Featured images don’t show up anywhere. Hmm.

          • mercury 3:46 pm on June 15, 2014 Permalink | Reply

P2 doesn’t support Featured images. This might be something I could add down the road.

            • JasRandal 5:13 pm on June 15, 2014 Permalink | Reply

Probably not a big deal unless, like my blog, somebody is installing it on an existing WP site. If not for this, I probably would have started using it, since my present one has been up longer than any before it.

Then again, I think I started using the Featured Image just recently, so maybe …

Thanks again for this. It was way past time for a P2 update.

Have you thought of including Category option in the front page post feature? P2-Category does it, though with an ugly dropdown menu. You shortened the Tag It field, could insert category next to it, and use the auto-fill to suggest categories already created.

Or is a category option starting to complicate the simplicity of it? 🙂

      • mercury 6:24 pm on July 7, 2014 Permalink | Reply

This first release of Mercury was really just for look and feel, and I didn’t add any functionality. I might start to expand its features in the next release though, we’ll see.

Hello, I apologize for my bad language. I use mercury them. I create a page in P2 theme that’s name is “category-3.php” and include codes from “index.php” and “post-form.php” to “category-3.php”. In this time I want when a user going to that category and post anything, this post automatically go to that category. Thank you

Took a few minutes but I figured it out…

The title is there, but it has a class of “transparent-title” which causes it to not show up.

The reason that class is applied is explained in P2’s functions.php file. It states: “Avoid processing the title if it’s the very first part of the post content”

The first text in your post is the same as the title, and so the title is made invisible.

This is part of the parent P2 theme, and not something I’d change in Mercury. You could update the functions.php file yourself though to disable that functionality.

    • Craig 12:18 am on August 12, 2014 Permalink | Reply

Hi Ryan. I really love where you are going with this theme. I have always liked the idea of P2 but the lack of extra functionality lets it down a bit.

I just tested your theme with bbpress running and the results look awesome bar a few glitches. Makes me think that if Mercury was adapted for bbpress it would be the style answer that so many are looking for.

At the moment I am in the process of building a local community project and am looking for the best option for a Q and A forum. bbpress is good but looks so ugly. Your theme makes it look great and inviting to users. I noticed that others were asking about function as well. Perhaps you might consider switching camps.

      • mercury 10:55 pm on August 18, 2014 Permalink | Reply

Hey Craig, I’m not familiar with bbpress at all, really. Is it just a matter of modifying Mercury, or does it use totally separate themes than the base WP install?

        • Craig 10:19 am on October 12, 2014 Permalink | Reply

Sorry Ryan. I didn’t know that you had replied to my prompt. bbPress and BuddyPress adopt the theme attributes of the host. So you would create a theme with much of the styles you have already created and tweak it a bit. But from what I saw of your theme it wouldn’t need much adjustments. Dedicated themes for bbPress and Buddypress are in high demand but most of the available themes over the top. BuddyBoss being the simple exception.

How do you install a child theme?

      • mercury 3:44 am on September 13, 2014 Permalink | Reply

In your WordPress admin, in Appearance > Themes, search for the P2 theme and install it. Then, do the same for Mercury.

I love what you’ve done with this theme but when I try to post from the home page I’m getting a message that says, “Whoops – looks like you are not connected to the server. P2 could not connect with WordPress”. Can’t figure out what is up with that. Never had this problem with a P2 theme before.

      • mercury 8:58 pm on September 26, 2014 Permalink | Reply

        Hi Danielle,

If you activate P2 instead of Mercury on the same install, do you get the same error?

Ah – I just figured it out – had to update WP! BUT…. now there is no ability to upload media via mobile and I’m sure there was before.

Like you, I used to think the world was this great place where everybody lived by the same standards I did, then some kid with a nail showed me I was living in his world, a world where chaos rules not order, a world where righteousness is not rewarded. That’s Cesar’s world, and if you’re not willing to play by his rules, then you’re gonna have to pay the price.

Well, the way they make shows is, they make one show. That show’s called a pilot. Then they show that show to the people who make shows, and on the strength of that one show they decide if they’re going to make more shows. Some pilots get picked and become television programs. Some don’t, become nothing. She starred in one of the ones that became nothing.

Yeah, I like animals better than people sometimes… Especially dogs. Dogs are the best. Every time you come home, they act like they haven’t seen you in a year. And the good thing about dogs… is they got different dogs for different people. Like pit bulls. The dog of dogs. Pit bull can be the right man’s best friend… or the wrong man’s worst enemy. You going to give me a dog for a pet, give me a pit bull. Give me… Raoul. Right, Omar? Give me Raoul.

Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your content seem to be running off the screen in Opera. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The design look great though! Hope you get the problem solved soon. Thanks

I’m not seeing any content issues in Opera 22. Are you able to attach a screenshot of what you’re seeing? What version of Opera are you using?

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee.

Your bones don’t break, mine do. That’s clear. Your cells react to bacteria and viruses differently than mine. You don’t get sick, I do. That’s also clear. But for some reason, you and I react the exact same way to water. We swallow it too fast, we choke. We get some in our lungs, we drown. However unreal it may seem, we are connected, you and I. We’re on the same curve, just on opposite ends.
